My name is Rusty Sly. I have been involved with home brewing beers for over 25 years. My discovery of wines was the results of my wife Tracy's dislike of beer. With wine, we have a common interest that we are passionate about. While her passion is pairing food with wine, mine is more of a technical/scientific side being an engineer with a chemistry background. Our difference continues in our wine selections. I love old world wines, specifically French, that reflects the earthy profile and layered complexity. My wife is more of a new world drinker where she enjoys the fruit forward style. However, we have found the best of both worlds in Paso Robles where retirement will find us. My journey has led me here, wanting to introduce people to wine as well as the details on variations and influences from many different sources. Through this my knowledge and experience has evolved to countless flights, events and tastings to learn about the many different wines. I have found it to be quite common for people to drink one specific varietal and many times from the same winery. My goal is to inspire you to venture out and discover this fascinating world of wine. I hope that you will find my articles interesting as I will cover wineries, wines, events, and the technical aspects and hopefully leave you still thirsty for more.
